Mauricio Pochettino: 'Tottenham Hotspur showed character'

Mauricio Pochettino praises the "personality and character" displayed by his Tottenham Hotspur side in their win against Hull City.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has said that his side showed "personality and character" in their 2-1 win against Hull City on Sunday.

Jake Livermore had given Hull the lead early on at the KC Stadium but Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen both scored to seal the win for Spurs after Gaston Ramirez saw red.

Following the game, Pochettino told the BBC: "It was very important, this victory, because it is important to stay in our position. It was an important win for the supporters and the club.

"At the beginning of the second half, we showed we were a better team than in the first half. It's never easy to play against 10 players but in the end we deserved the victory.

"Hull scored early and it was difficult to manage. They tried to pressure us but in the second half we showed a lot of personality and character and we need to keep that up in the next few games."

The result leaves Tottenham 10th in the Premier League.
