Tim Sherwood: 'Tottenham Hotspur don't need big-name manager'

Spurs boss Tim Sherwood says that the club should concentrate on hiring the "right man" to replace him rather than focusing on a big-name appointment.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Tim Sherwood has advised the Spurs hierarchy to concentrate on hiring the "right man" to replace him rather than focusing on a big-name appointment.

The North Londoners are widely expected to part company with the 45-year-old this summer, with Louis van Gaal reported to be the frontrunner to take the hotseat at White Hart Lane next season.

"It's important for the club, and for any club, to know what they want and not to just get anyone as they are the biggest name who can appease the fans for 10 minutes," he told Sky Sports News.

"Those guys still get the sack wherever they go, so it's about getting the right man for the right job and the right fit. The game has gone crazy.

"I'm watching a game the other day and you are getting people criticising Pep Guardiola. What is the world coming to?"

Sherwood has led the club to 11 Premier League victories and five defeats since replacing Andre Villas-Boas in December.
