Gareth Bale will start for Tottenham Hotspur against Manchester City this afternoon having recovered from injury.

Gareth Bale has been named in Tottenham Hotspur's starting lineup to face Manchester City at White Hart Lane in the Premier League this afternoon.

The Wales international has recovered from an ankle injury to feature this afternoon, while Jermain Defoe is fit enough to start of the bench.

Hugo Lloris and Benoit Assou-Ekotto also return, having been rested for Spurs' game against FC Basel 10 days ago.

Meanwhile, City manager Robeto Mancini has made five changes to the side that beat Wigan Athletic in midweek.

Sergio Aguero misses out, having picked up an injury, allowing Edin Dzeko to come into the attack, while Pablo Zabaleta, Matija Nastasic, James Milner and Gael Clichy also start.

Spurs: Lloris, Vertonghen, Assou-Ekotto, Dawson, Walker, Dempsey, Parker, Sigurdsson, Dembele, Bale, Adebayor

Man City: Hart, Zabaleta, Kompany, Nastasic, Clichy, Nasri, Milner, Barry, Y Toure, Dzeko, Tevez
