Team News: Vincent Janssen replaces Harry Kane for Tottenham Hotspur

Vincent Janssen comes in for the injured Harry Kane as Tottenham Hotspur travel to Middlesbrough.

Vincent Janssen has come in for the injured Harry Kane as Tottenham Hotspur travel to Middlesbrough this afternoon.

As expected, the frontman replaces Kane - out with an ankle injury - days after opening his Spurs goalscoring account in the midweek EFL Cup thrashing of Gillingham.

Eric Dier and Moussa Dembele both miss out with hamstring injuries, as Ben Davies and Christian Eriksen return to the fold in an otherwise unchanged side from the XI that defeated Sunderland last weekend.

For the hosts, manager Aitor Karanka makes three changes following Boro's 3-1 defeat at Everton, handing a debut to Arsenal loanee Calum Chambers in the back four at the expense of Daniel Ayala.

Christian Stuani returns from a groin injury and Adam Clayton is restored to the lineup as Emilio Nsue and Adam Forshaw start among the subs.

Elsewhere, Jordan Rhodes has overcome a knee injury to be named on the bench.

Middlesbrough: Valdes; Barragan, Chambers, Gibson, Friend; De Roon, Clayton; Stuani, Ramirez, Downing; Negredo
Subs: Guzan, Ayala, Rhodes, Fischer, Nsue, Forshaw, Traore

Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris; Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies; Wanyama, Alli; Sissoko, Eriksen, Son; Janssen
Subs: Vorm, Carter-Vickers, Trippier, Wimmer, Winks, Nkoudou, Lamela
