Real Madrid to announce Gareth Bale capture after friendly?

Real Madrid will reportedly announce the arrival of Gareth Bale in a world-record transfer following their friendly against Al Sadd this evening.

Real Madrid will reportedly confirm the arrival of Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale following the side's friendly against Al Sadd this evening.

It had been claimed that the proposed transfer would be completed this week following lengthy discussions between the two parties.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, radio station Cadena COPE has claimed that Madrid will announce news of their new signing after the clash to prevent focus from being taken away from Raul's return to the Bernabeu for the friendly.

Some reports have claimed that an £85m deal has been agreed, while others have stated that Spurs will pocket £93m plus left-back Fabio Coentrao.

If the deal goes through, Bale will be regarded as the most expensive player in football history, eclipsing the £80m fee paid by Madrid to Manchester United for former Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.
