All-time record Premier League goalscorer Alan Shearer backs Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane to beat his record if he moves to Manchester City.

All-time top Premier League goalscorer Alan Shearer has backed Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane to beat his record if the England captain joins Manchester City.

It was reported earlier this week that Pep Guardiola's side had made a £100m bid for Kane, but shortly after it was revealed that chairman Daniel Levy is expected to hold out for £150m for the talisman.

The 27-year-old is currently 94 goals behind Shearer's record of 260 top-flight strikes, and Kane is believed to want to remain in England to chase that record.

Shearer admitted that he is resigned to losing his record if Kane moves to the Etihad, telling UMM: "Sweating?! No. Do I think he will do it? He probably will do. I've had it for 20-odd years so it will go one day, and if it goes then why not go to him, he's a nice guy. He'll absolutely obliterate it if he goes to City, in three or four years."

Prior to Euro 2020 kicking off, the former England striker also backed Kane to win this year's Euros Golden Boot, but the England captain has not managed to find the back of the net in his opening two group games.

In all competitions for Spurs since 2011, Kane has scored 221 goals in 336 appearances for the club.
