Stoke City manager Mark Hughes claims that boos from fans could be a "good thing" for him.

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has claimed that the displays of anger from disgruntled fans could be a "good thing".

The 54-year-old has seemingly lost some support among the Stoke following due to a string of disappointing results.

After the team suffered a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, Hughes was targeted with verbal abuse from supporters at Stoke train station.

"I think it could possibly be a good thing," Hughes told reporters. "We are often accused of being in a bubble, sometimes it's good to be exposed to how the fans feel.

"It was emotional. Someone made the decision to lock the doors to let us off first, don't know who, maybe that affected the situation. We know it wasn't acceptable on the day, and we intend to make it right on Tuesday."

The Potters are just three points above the relegation zone after 16 games.
