Mark Hughes: 'Peter Odemwingie a no-risk signing for Stoke City'

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes claims that Peter Odemwingie was a "no-risk signing" for the club.

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has claimed that Peter Odemwingie was a "no-risk signing" for the club.

The 32-year-old striker left West Bromwich Albion for Cardiff City last summer in acrimonious circumstances after attempting to force through a move to Queens Park Rangers.

Odemwingie subsequently joined the Potters in January as part of a swap deal which saw Kenwyne Jones move to Cardiff, the Nigerian scoring five times for the Staffordshire-based club.

Hughes told reporters: "[Odemwingie] was a no-risk signing for us, truth be told, because he has performed incredibly well and scored many goals at this level.

"He has come in here and performed exactly how I thought he would do. He has made a real impact here and hopefully he gets the chance to go to the World Cup."

Stoke City currently occupy 10th place in the Premier League table ahead of the final round of fixtures.
