Sunderland boss Gus Poyet: 'We must be more clinical in front of goal'

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet is unimpressed with his side in front of goal after they failed to kill off Leeds United in the FA Cup.

Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has said that his side must start killing off their opponents after they narrowly beat Leeds United in the FA Cup third-round.

The Black Cats won courtesy of a Patrick van Aanholt goal, and had multiple chances to settle the game in a dominant first half, but failed to score a decisive second.

Poyet told reporters: "We needed to kill the game after being the better team in the first half and creating so many chances.

"It wasn't necessarily down to the Leeds goalkeeper that we didn't score, but perhaps our finishing. We needed to be more clinical. I think we allowed Leeds to get back into the game.

"We could have had it finished before half time, but they came back out for the second-half and threw everything at us."

Sunderland have scored 20 Premier League goals in 20 games this season.
