It finishes goalless in the Premier League match between Sunderland and Crystal Palace at the Stadium of Light.

It has finished goalless in the Premier League match between Sunderland and Crystal Palace at the Stadium of Light.

It was a lively start by the hosts, with Steven Fletcher heading over the bar. Julian Speroni also had to push away Marcos Alonso's low shot.

A long ball down the left released Alonso, who found Adam Johnson with a drilled cross, but the winger was unable to keep his effort down.

Sunderland continued to dominate, as more pressure by the home side resulted in Johnson flicking a cross into the box. Fletcher, however, was unable to reach it.

Ki Sung-Yueng also hammered a shot wide for the Black Cats, before Fletcher was inches away from connecting with Fabio Borini's cross.

The home side continued to dominate after the restart, but again they were unable to take their chances.

Jozy Altidore was played in inside the box, took a touch and curled an effort that Speroni did well to keep out.

Yannick Bolasie then had a rare shot for the visitors, but it was comfortable for Vito Mannone.

Both teams struggled to create chances after that, but the visitors could have won the game late on when Kagisho Dikgacoi fired wide after being played in by Cameron Jerome.
