Jack Cork praises Ki Sung-yueng, Jonjo Shelvey partnership

Swansea City midfielder Jack Cork believes that Jonjo Shelvey and Ki Sung-yueng can help the club surpass their previous Premier League record points tally this campaign.

Jack Cork is hopeful that Swansea City's 2-1 victory over Manchester United can offer his side some added motivation to push on for the remainder of the campaign.

The Swans moved up to 37 points for the season following their triumph at the Liberty Stadium last weekend, and they are now well on course to surpass their previous highest tally of 47 which was set back in 2011.

Key to their impressive displays this campaign has been midfielder Ki Sung-yueng, who spent last term out on loan at Sunderland, while Jonjo Shelvey also showed what he is capable of by firing away the shot which led to Swansea's second goal against United.

"Ki keeps nipping behind defenders and he and Jonjo have got a good partnership going," Cork told Wales Online. "They keep passing to each other and one gets the goal and the other gets the assist so as long as that happens that's great for us.

"It was a great strike from Jonjo and although we were laughing about whether he or Bafe [Gomis] got the goal, as long as one of them scored that's all that matters.

"They link well and that's good for us because beating a side like Manchester United will give everyone a lot of confidence. This will get everyone going and hopefully it will give us the boost that we needed to kick on for the last 12 games."

Swansea return to action on Saturday when they take on Burnley at Turf Moor.
