Gylfi Sigurdsson: 'Swansea City showed good character in Aston Villa comeback'

Swansea City midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson believes that his side showed great character after coming from a goal behind to beat Aston Villa 2-1 in the Premier League.

Swansea City midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson has praised his side's character after coming from a goal behind to beat Aston Villa 2-1 yesterday.

Goals from Sigurdsson and Andre Ayew helped the Swans to a first Premier League win in five matches, and the Iceland international believes that his team worked hard to claim a late victory at Villa Park.

"It was an important win, especially after going 1-0 down," Sigurdsson is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "So we showed good character as a team to get back into the game and probably steal it at the end.

"We got back into the game with that free-kick and then changed the formation a little bit with [Modou Barrow] coming on, it gave us a lot of pace down the wing. We kept going, knew we were going to get the chances.

"It was fantastic for the team because it's been a hard few weeks for us, having not won many games and lost a few points."

Swansea will take on Arsenal in their next Premier League fixture on Saturday.
