Swansea City manager Garry Monk has admitted that he is surprised Michu has not yet left Swansea City during this transfer window.
The Spanish forward has not played for the Swans competitively since April 2014 and is currently in Spain after completing an unsuccessful loan spell at Serie A side Napoli last season.
Injury problems limited the 29-year-old to just five appearances for the Italian club, who turned down the chance to sign him permanently.
Monk told the South Wales Evening Post: "I am a little surprised that nothing has happened yet. Michu is a good player. It's not sad to see, these things happen. It was his choice to go to Napoli – he wasn't forced out.
"The chairman is talking to his representatives and trying to come up with a solution that suits both parties. It'll be great if that can happen sooner rather than later for Michu and for the club."
Michu scored 22 goals in all competitions in his first season at Swansea after arriving from Rayo Vallecano for £2m in 2012, but netted just twice in 17 appearances in his second year at the club.
