Gary Neville desperate for response as questions remain over Valencia future

Valencia boss Gary Neville understands fully the magnitude of his side's Europa League tie with Athletic Bilbao, which he describes as "must-win" on the eve of the match.

Gary Neville has confessed that anything less than a victory against Athletic Bilbao could see his time at Valencia come to an abrupt end.

The Englishman has failed to get going at the Mestalla in his first managerial stint, having lost three games on the spin to see the pressure continue to increase.

Reports in Italy this week suggest that former Roma boss Rudi Garcia has already been lined up, and could be brought in prior to the upcoming international break should Los Che slip up at home to Bilbao.

Valencia trail 1-0 against their Spanish rivals heading into the Europa League round-of-16 return leg, which Neville is refusing to play down on the eve of the match.

"Sunday was a very difficult game for us against Levante, but we have to move past that," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "We have had some very difficult moments but Sunday dropped to a level that was unexplainable, unacceptable. We have to make sure we take our chances tomorrow night and not shy away from it at home.

"We must win, we must win. I don't feel destabilised by the fact we are playing with this kind of pressure but there becomes a moment where we just have to deliver. If we don't deliver we know the circumstances, we know the outcome, we know what is going to be said.

"We need to go out there and perform, and win the match. I always go into every game thinking we are going to win, especially at the Mestalla. That should always be the expectation."

It took Neville 10 games to register his first win as Valencia boss upon taking over in December, with his overall record now standing at nine victories in 26 outings.
