Watford head coach Quique Sanchez Flores has revealed that the club are close to completing the signing of Alessandro Diamanti.
The Guangzhou Evergrande attacker has been linked with a move to Vicarage Road over the last few weeks and reports on Friday suggested that the Italian had passed a medical with the Hornets.
After watching his side draw 2-2 with Everton on the opening day of the Premier League season, Flores admitted that he was excited about what Diamanti could bring to the squad.
"Diamanti is training with us," he told reporters. "He is the type of player we need. He can keep the ball and can give the right pass when we have possession."
Diamanti spent the 2009-10 season with West Ham United in the Premier League.
