Team News: Brown Ideye makes first West Bromwich Albion start

West Bromwich Albion hand club-record signing Brown Ideye a first start as Alan Irvine makes seven changes for their Capital One Cup tie at home to Oxford United.

Club-record signing Brown Ideye will make his first West Bromwich Albion start this evening in their Capital One Cup second-round tie with Oxford United.

The £10m man has been limited to substitute appearances so far in the Premier League, but gets the nod at The Hawthorns as Alan Irvine makes seven changes.

Former Southampton and Aston Villa utility man Chris Baird makes his full Baggies debut and could be followed by Colombian international Christian Gamboa, who is on a bench which includes fit-again midfielder James Morrison.

Summer signing Jason Davidson replaces the injured Sebastien Pocognoli at left-back, while Gareth McAuley makes his first appearance of the season in defence as Jonas Olsson is granted a night off.

League Two Oxford are forced into one change, with goalkeeper Max Crocombe deputising for ineligible Sheffield United loanee George Long. New arrival Will Hoskins is named on the visiting bench.

West Brom: Myhill; Wisdom, Dawson, McAuley, Davidson; Yacob, Baird; Berahino, Sessegnon, Brunt; Ideye
Subs: Foster, Olsson, Morrison, Gamboa, O'Neil, Mulumbu, Roofe

Oxford: Crocombe; Riley, Mullins, Wright, Newey; Collins, Ruffels, Rose, Hylton; Brown, Morris
Subs: Stevens, Meades, Raynes, Potter, Hunt, Jakubiak, Hoskins
