Nicolas Anelka doubtful for Chelsea return

West Bromwich Albion striker Nicolas Anelka could miss Saturday's match with Chelsea with a groin strain.

West Bromwich Albion head coach Steve Clarke has revealed that striker Nicolas Anelka could miss the club's match with Chelsea.

Anelka is currently suffering with a "slight groin strain", but Clarke has hinted that they will wait until the last possible moment to assess the former Blues forward.

The 50-year-old told the Express & Star: "The only one that's doubtful from the normal squad is Nicolas.

"He's got a slight groin strain and we will assess him again tomorrow."

The 34-year-old scored 59 goals in 184 appearances during his time at Stamford Bridge, which lasted between 2008 and 2012.
