West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis pays tribute to Saido Berahino

West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis praises striker Saido Berahino following Saturday's 3-2 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis has revealed his delight at having English forward Saido Berahino now fully available for selection.

Berahino has largely struggled to make Pulis's league XI this season after openly criticising the Baggies in last summer's transfer window following strong interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

The striker has since apologised for his actions, however, and he responded with a goal in West Brom's 3-2 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Pulis has claimed that Berahino is as important to West Brom as Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane and Leicester City's Jamie Vardy are to their respective clubs.

"We played really well first half, as good as we've played. People can see when Saido and Solomon [Rondon] play together what a handful they are," Pulis told BBC Sport.

"We haven't had that for half a season. If you take Kane out of Tottenham or Vardy out of Leicester, that's how big a gap it is to take Saido out of this team. Those two were a real handful. [Berahino] was very good today and the rest of the team were, he was unlucky not to get a few other goals as well.

"I'd have been devastated if we'd not won that game. We played some good stuff. I thought they went back to front and caused us lots of problems but we dealt with it and when we got time we played good football."

Pulis also revealed that Chris Brunt would undergo a scan on Sunday to determine the extent of the knee problem he suffered at The Hawthorns.
