Sam Allardyce backs Olympic Stadium move

Sam Allardyce believes that West Ham United will have one of the best stadiums in the country once they move to the Olympic Stadium in 2016.

Sam Allardyce has described West Ham United's move to the Olympic Stadium as one of the "most positive developments in the history of the club".

The Hammers were confirmed as the future tenants of the facility yesterday, with the switch due to take place in 2016.

The manager told the club's website: "Friday's news that West Ham United have been confirmed as the Olympic Stadium's anchor tenant, is for me, one of the biggest and most positive developments in the history of the club.

"West Ham are a traditional, community-based club with a rich history but the opportunities to create a new legacy by moving the few miles along the road to Stratford, are limitless.

"I've seen the designs and my opinion is that, once all the development is completes, it will be one of the best stadiums in the country along with Wembley and the Emirates."

The Hammers have played their home games at the Boleyn Ground in Upton Park since 1904.
