The 22-year-old extends his current deal at the DW Stadium until the end of the 2016-17 season.
He told the club website: "I'm delighted to get my future sorted. This is where I made my debut and got my break in football and I just want to thank the manager for having faith in me."
McManaman was the man of the match in last season's FA Cup final when the Latics stunned Manchester City.
