Shaun Maloney 'to join MLS side Chicago Fire this week'

Wigan Athletic forward Shaun Maloney is set to sign for MLS side Chicago Fire, according to reports.

Wigan Athletic forward Shaun Maloney is close to completing a move to MLS side Chicago Fire, according to reports.

The Scotsman almost joined Premier League side Leicester City last week but talks reportedly broke down over personal terms.

The Daily Mail says that Maloney was told he could leave the club by manager Malky MacKay, and a move to Chicago is expected to be concluded at the end of the week.

Maloney joined Wigan from Celtic in 2011.
