Wolfsburg move into fourth

Wolfsburg beat Nuremberg 4-1 to lift themselves back into fourth in the Bundesliga.

Wolfsburg have moved into fourth place in the Bundesliga with a commanding 4-1 home win against relegation-threatened Nuremberg.

After an edgy opening five minutes the home side got themselves on top of the game and after a couple of half-chances, Ivica Olic had a shot from the angle well saved by Raphael Schafer.

However, on the break after eight minutes it was Nuremberg who took the lead. Markus Feulner was played through by Hiroshi Kiyotake to slam in from the edge of the box.

Wolfsburg remained well on top of the contest and it took just 11 minutes for them to pull level. Olic was found by Kevin de Bruyne and he finished well from around the penalty spot.

Then just three minutes later they were ahead. De Bruyne again was the creator and this time Ivan Perisic managed to clip the ball wonderfully over Schafer for 2-1.

The hosts continued to dominate until the break and just before the whistle De Bruyne almost had the goal he deserved by Schafer got down well to save.

In the second half Wolfsburg continued to come forward and on 68 minutes had the cushion that they were after as Maximilian Arnold played the ball to Junior Malanda, who fired past Schafer.

Then with eight minutes to play the result was complete with Perisic's second as the winger tapped in from an Olic pull-back to secure the three points.
