Wolfsburg smash Schalke

Schalke 04 are defeated by a rampant Wolfsburg side in the Bundesliga.

Wolfsburg have destroyed Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga with an emphatic 4-0 win.

The match suffered from a scrappy start, with both sides giving away fouls and being caught offside on several occasions.

The first genuine strike on goal game on 17 minutes when Naldo shot low from outside of the box, but there was not enough power to beat Timo Hildebrand in the Schalke goal.

Vieirinha and Koo Ja-Cheol both came close with shots towards the end of the first 45 minutes, but the two sides went in goalless.

In the second half it took just 10 minutes for the deadlock to be broken as Robin Knoche reacted fastest in the box to put in an Ivan Perisic corner.

Six minutes later Die Wolfe were 2-0 ahead. This time Vieirinha found an inch of room in the box to drill a low shot into the opposite corner.

Naldo poked in a corner six minutes later, with Stefan Kutschke adding a fourth in a resounding 4-0 win for Wolfsburg.
