Conor Coady: 'Ajax provided good test for Wolverhampton Wanderers'

Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Conor Coady suggests that the first-team squad will only benefit from gaining a 1-1 draw from a pre-season friendly with Ajax.

Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Conor Coady has acknowledged that Ajax provided his side with "a really good test" on Thursday afternoon.

The two clubs played out a 1-1 draw at the Banks's Stadium - the home of Walsall - and Wolves are now unbeaten in three fixtures since beginning their pre-season schedule.

Coady says that Nuno Espirito Santo's side are progressing well ahead of their return to the Premier League, and that lessons will be learned from facing the Dutch giants.

The 25-year-old is quoted by the Express & Star as saying: "It was a great run-out. We all know good Ajax are and how they want to keep possession. The most important thing was to keep our shape and keep on learning and improving.

"I thought we dealt with them quite well and it was a really good test for us. It was fantastic but it was the same against Young Boys and Basel, we've had some good tests this pre-season.

"It was a sloppy goal to concede, it came from our own piece of play. It was disappointing but we need to learn from it. They're a top team and move the ball really well."

Wolves begin their top-flight season with a home fixture against Everton on August 11.
