Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder David Davis has vowed to recover from the own goal that he scored during his side's last Championship encounter against Bristol City.
Having been given the ball by goalkeeper Carl Ikeme on the edge of his own penalty area, Davis lofted it back towards the sender. However, the ball squirmed underneath Ikeme's boot and rolled over the line.
"It was a bad pass from me and it gave Carl a lot to deal with, so I just wanted the ground to open up at the time really," the Express & Star quotes Davis as saying.
"I wish it hadn't happened, but it did, so I've just got to put it to the back of my mind. Touch wood, nothing like that happens to me again. But, if it does, now I know how it feels it will hopefully help me deal with any mistakes I do make in the future."
Ikeme broke his hand while punching a tactics board in frustration during the half-time break of the match against City.
