Walter Zenga: 'I've spoken to other English-based managers'

New Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Walter Zenga says that he has sought advice from other English-based managers after taking the job at Molineux.

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Walter Zenga has said that he has spoken to a number of English-based managers as he looks to make a positive impression at Molineux.

Zenga was the surprise choice to replace Kenny Jackett but after being formally unveiled at the Championship outfit, the former Italy international has admitted that he has called upon the experience of some of his fellow countrymen as he prepares for the start of the new Championship campaign.

The 56-year-old is quoted by the Daily Star as saying: "Last year many times I spoke with Claudio [Ranieri]. Now I have also spoken to Walter Mazzarri at Watford. Two days ago, I spoke with Francesco Guidolin at Swansea. I haven't spoken to Claudio since taking the job but I will when he comes back from Sweden.

"It's normal to get some advice, something like that. There'll be discussions between coaches. You share your experience, your mentality and your ideas, even if you're not arriving in another country."

Zenga's first game in charge of Wolves comes at Rotherham United on Saturday afternoon.
