Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly 'unlikely' to make a big-money signing during the January transfer window.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly decided against making a big-money signing during the January transfer window.

The Championship leaders have money at their disposal, and had been linked with offers for a number of high-profile names in a bid to boost their chances of promotion to the Premier League.

However, according to the Express & Star, neither an established striker nor competition for Matt Doherty at right wing-back is likely to arrive before the end of the month.

At the start of 2018, Nuno Espirito Santo moved to sign young Spanish forward Rafa Mir, and it appears that the former Valencia man will be used as backup to Leo Bonatini.

The report suggests that Wolves are still likely to take up an option to turn Diogo Jota's loan spell at Molineux from Atletico Madrid into a permanent transfer.

Wolves currently sit nine points clear at the top of the second-tier table, but the club are without a win in four games in all competitions.
