Gary Johnson hails eight-man Yeovil Town after Reading draw

Gary Johnson says that his Yeovil Town players were "trojans" against Reading, after the Glovers held on for a point despite having three players sent off.

Gary Johnson has heaped praise on his Yeovil Town players for holding on for a draw against Reading, despite having three players sent off in the final 20 minutes.

The Glovers took the lead when Shane Duffy headed home in the first half. However, things began to unravel when Byron Webster was dismissed for pulling back Royston Drenthe in the penalty area and the referee awarded a penalty.

Marek Stech saved Adam Le Fondre's spot kick, but Tom Lawrence then diverted the ball into his own net. Joe Ralls was given a red card for bringing down Garath McClearly and Kieffer Moore then went for a second yellow card.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, Yeovil held on and Johnson claims that his players were "trojans".

"We are looking solid and everybody's giving it a right go, none more so than the eight out there who threw themselves behind the ball. They were like trojans today in the penalty area, credit to them," Johnson told the Western Gazette.

"Of course you are pleased with a point when you have had three sending-offs and played 20 minutes and then another seven minutes extra time with eight men."

The draw means that Johnson's side are now two points from safety at the bottom of the Championship table.
