Wigan Warriors motivated by critics

Shaun Wane says that Wigan Warriors used negative comments to motivate themselves ahead of last night's Super League playoff victory over Huddersfield Giants.

Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane has said that critics spurred his team on to victory in last night's Super League playoff match against Huddersfield Giants.

A crushing 22-8 win at the John Smith's Stadium means that the Cherry & Whites are just 80 minutes away from the Grand Final.

"I thought we played well," Wane told reporters. "We showed in the first half if we could keep hold of the ball we could score and even the times we didn't score we still had them on the back foot and that was the positive thing.

"The players set out to do what we wanted them to do. It was a great performance, I thought we defended tough and played a really good conservative game.

"Everyone was telling me we were done. We have had so many negative comments and it was a great motivating factor for the team."

The Giants will get another chance to reach the semi-finals next week.
