Warren Gatland: 'Adam Jones key in Wales' success'

Warren Gatland claims that the retired Adam Jones played a "huge part" in Wales' success during his international career.

Wales head coach Warren Gatland has claimed that Adam Jones played a pivotal role in his country's success during his time on the international stage.

Jones announced his retirement from Test rugby on Saturday after being left out of the squad for the Six Nations, and Gatland was keen to praise the qualities of the 33-year-old prop.

"There is no doubt that Adam has played a huge part in Wales' success," the New Zealander, who coached Jones in three Six Nations triumphs, told members of the media.

"He has three Grand Slams and a [Six Nations] Championship to his name. That is an unbelievable record."

Jones won 95 caps for Wales and five for the British and Irish Lions.
