Canadian Milos Raonic produces some fine tennis on his way to a straight-sets win over Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo in the French Open first round.

Milos Raonic moved comfortably into the second round of the French Open with a 6-4 6-2 6-2 win over Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo.

Raonic, who was disappointingly knocked out at the first hurdle in last year's tournament, dominated from start to finish.

The Canadian hit an impressive 58 winners compared to Hidalgo's modest total of ten as he advanced safely past the unseeded Spaniard.

He also showed his ability to win games both on and off serve as he broke Hidalgo five times as on his way to a straight-sets win.

The world number 19 will now face American qualifier Jesse Levine, who beat Benjamin Becker of Germany 7-5 6-2 6-4.
