Novak Djokovic wins Indian Wells Masters

Novak Djokovic wins the Indian Wells Masters courtesy of a 3-6 6-3 7-6 victory over Roger Federer in the final this evening.

Novak Djokovic has come from a set down to beat Roger Federer 3-6 6-3 7-6 in the final of the Indian Wells Masters this evening.

Federer raced into an early lead in the opening set, holding serve and breaking Djokovic at the first time of asking to move 3-0 ahead.

Neither player conceded a single break point for the remainder of the set as it stayed on serve, giving Federer the opener 6-3 to put him in control of the match.

It was more of the same at the start of the second set as the opening seven games went with serve until Djokovic struck, gaining the crucial break before serving out for a 6-3 victory.

The world number two almost broke Federer again in the first game of the deciding set, but the Swiss master fought back to make a vital hold.

It was only a temporary reprieve, however, as Djokovic gained the break of serve in the third game to put him in the driving seat.

The following five games went with serve as the Serbian went one away from the title with a 5-3 lead.

However, Federer - who has won the competition a record four times - won on his service game before inflicting a key break-of-serve to level the set at five games apiece.

The Swiss claimed three points in quick succession to open up a 6-5 lead but Djokovic held serve to set up a tiebreak.

Federer's resistance waned as two breaks of serve allowed Djokovic to open up a 5-1 lead, before the 26-year-old ultimately emerged as a 7-3 winner to seal his third Indian Wells title.
