Tommy Haas has spoken of his pride at reaching the French Open quarter-finals for the first time in his career.
Haas recorded a comfortable straight-sets victory over Mikhail Youzhny this afternoon to book his place in the quarters, where he will face Novak Djokovic.
At 35 years old, Haas will become the oldest quarter-finalist in a Grand Slam since Andre Agassi in the US Open in 2005 and the oldest at Roland Garros for 42 years.
"These are cool stats sometimes to hear and to know about. It makes you proud," said Haas.
"But what I'm really proud of is that I reached the quarters here for the first time, not knowing if that was ever going to be possible."
Haas is currently ranked 12th in the world and is on the verge of breaking into the top 10 for the first time since 2007.
