Mikhail Youzhny has beaten 11th seed Nicolas Almagro in three sets to reach round three of the Madrid Open.
The Russian took the first set 7-4 in a tie-break before Almagro broke once on his way to claiming the second 6-4.
Youzhny then broke twice to seal the win 6-2 and extend his head-to-head record against the Spaniard to 4-0 in his favour.
He will now face two-time champion and fifth seed Rafael Nadal for a place in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
