Nick Kyrgios "bored" during victory over Sam Querrey

Controversial tennis star Nick Kyrgios says that he was "bored" during his meeting with Sam Querrey in Shanghai, which he puts down to fatigue.

Nick Kyrgios has claimed that he was "a bit bored at times" during his Shanghai Masters meeting with Sam Querrey this afternoon.

The 21-year-old progressed into the second round with a 6-4 6-4 victory inside an hour, extending his unbeaten run to six matches.

Kyrgios, who won the Japan Open on Sunday, was not his vocal self at times against Querrey and admitted afterwards that fatigue was a big factor.

"I was just a bit bored at times," BBC Sport quotes him as saying. "I was feeling very tired. It was just tough. I'm just tired so maybe I just wanted to get the job done.

"I didn't have the greatest sleep last night and obviously got in late the day before. The ride to the courts isn't great either."

Kyrgios was fined just short of £1,000 at this tournament last year after a foul-mouthed outburst when branding it a "circus".
