Petra Kvitova has admitted that she was forced to battle to reach the quarter-finals of the US Open in her straight-sets victory over Johanna Konta.
The two-time Wimbledon champion managed to secure the vital points when it mattered as she played out an even game with the Brit.
However, the 25-year-old's experience in the big moments paid off as she sealed her place in the last eight for the first time at Flushing Meadows.
Kvitova told ESPN: "It was very difficult match. She served very well. From the beginning I was the worse player on the court. I just managed to hang in there."
The number five seed will play Flavia Pennetta in the quarter-finals.
