Roger Federer eases beyond first round at Wimbledon after defeating Damin Dzumhur

World number two Roger Federer makes light work of his opening game at Wimbledon as he defeats Damin Dzumhur 6-1 6-3 6-3 at SW19.

World number two Roger Federer cruised into the second round of Wimbledon this afternoon after defeating Damin Dzumhur 6-1 6-3 6-3 at SW19.

Under South London's unrelenting sun, the Swiss legend broke his opponent at the second time of asking on his way to sealing the first set comfortably at 6-1.

Dzumhur improved in the second set after registering three games, but he was ultimately undone by his own mistakes as he gifted Federer two unforced errors late on and the 33-year-old claimed the set 6-3.

Federer smelled victory and he made light work of his opponent in the contest's final set, which saw Switzerland's maestro break Dzumhur during game four on his way to taking the third offering 6-3.
