Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta rules out the prospect of out-of-favour striker Eddie Nketiah leaving the club in January.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has ruled out the prospect of Eddie Nketiah leaving the club in the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old has entered the final six months of his contract at the Emirates Stadium and is believed to be in talks over a switch to Crystal Palace.

Ahead of Arsenal's EFL Cup semi-final first leg with Liverpool, Arteta - who has been vocal about his desire for Nketiah to remain at the club - insisted that the Englishman would not be heading elsewhere over the winter.

"The situation is that Eddie is our player and Eddie is going to stay here with us. He's our player and he's under contract, so he will stay with us," Arteta told reporters.

Nketiah boasts five goals from three EFL Cup appearances in the 2021-22 season, but he has only played 38 minutes in the Premier League during the current campaign.

The former England Under-21 international boasts a total of 18 goals and one assist from 72 senior Arsenal appearances after coming through their Hale End academy.
