Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal has revealed that negotiations over a contract extension are underway.
The Spaniard has usurped Kieran Gibbs as the Gunners' first-choice left-back in recent seasons but, with his deal scheduled to expire next summer, his future has been doubted.
"I have always said that my idea is to stay here," the 29-year-old, who has started 12 games in all competitions this season, told talkSPORT.
"We are talking [with the club], we need to talk and reach an agreement. I wish that to happen. Of course I'd like to stay here."
Monreal joined Arsenal from Malaga in January 2013.
