Report: Arsenal still yet to bid for Patrick van Aanholt

Arsenal are likely to end deadline day without bringing in any new players amid suggestions that no offer has been tabled for Crystal Palace's Patrick van Aanholt.

Crystal Palace have still yet to receive a formal offer from Arsenal for defender Patrick van Aanholt, according to a report.

The Gunners are believed to have been looking to bring in a new left-back on deadline day to provide competition and cover for Kieran Tierney.

Van Aanholt emerged as a rumoured option given that he has just six months to run on his Palace deal and is classed as a home-grown player.

However, ESPN's James Olley has suggested on Twitter that, with time running down to Monday's 11pm cut-off point, there is no sign of a deal going through.

That update comes despite reports of Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who is able to slot in at left-back, being granted permission to join West Bromwich Albion on loan.

Speaking earlier on Monday, Palace boss Roy Hodgson insisted that he expects Van Aanholt to remain at Selhurst Park until the end of the campaign.
