Bournemouth recall Daniel Jebbison from his loan spell with Watford after suffering their second major injury blow of the week.

Bournemouth have recalled Daniel Jebbison from his loan spell with Watford after the Cherries confirmed that Enes Unal had sustained a serious knee injury.

The Cherries revealed on Tuesday that Evanilson had undergone surgery after suffering a broken foot in Saturday's 1-0 win over Everton.

Evanilson's injury left Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola with Unal as the only fit natural striker in his squad.

However, the Cherries have now revealed that the Turkey international has sustained an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, dealing another major blow to Bournemouth's bid to achieve European qualification.

Unal suffers ACL injury

In a statement, Bournemouth said: "We are devastated to confirm that Enes Unal has suffered a tear to his right anterior cruciate ligament during a training session this week."

"The Turkish striker, who has featured in every Cherries game since September, scoring two vital goals in our current club-record unbeaten run in the Premier League, experienced the contact injury in a routine drill on Tuesday morning.

"First and foremost, our thoughts are with Enes at this moment as he begins to process another significant period of rehabilitation ahead. He will undergo surgery to repair the ligament in the coming days and the club's medical and performance staff will support him in every way possible throughout.

"We are all behind Enes and will provide updates on his recovery progress when appropriate."

Unal is now set to miss the remainder of the 2024-25 season after sustaining the second ACL injury of his career.

The 27-year-old previously spent around six months on the sidelines with ACL injury in 2023 when was playing for Spanish side Getafe.

Bournemouth recall Jebbison from loan spell

Having been left without a senior striker in their squad, Bournemouth have exercised their option to recall Jebbison from his season-long loan spell with Watford.

Jebbison experienced an underwhelming time at Vicarage Road, failing to score in any of his 13 Championship appearances.

Watford boss Tom Cleverley told the club's media channels: "Jebbo's career isn't going to be defined by this tough experience for him.

"I do hope he'll feel he's got something out of his time here and learned a lot. The loan hasn't gone as well as anyone would have wished, but that doesn't mean there needs to be any resentment left to linger."

Jebbison could be involved when Bournemouth welcome West Bromwich Albion to the Vitality Stadium for Saturday's FA Cup tie.
