Chelsea are reportedly in talks to send Billy Gilmour on loan to Southampton for the remainder of the season.
The 19-year-old is highly rated at Stamford Bridge but has struggled for playing time, featuring only six times in all competitions in 2020-21.
Gilmour is said to have asked for a temporary move away and, according to the Daily Mail, Southampton are interested in agreeing a deal with Chelsea.
The Saints are eager to strengthen in midfield for the second half of the season, with Oriol Romeu, Ibrahima Diallo and James Ward-Prowse currently their main options in the middle.
Blues academy product Gilmour has not featured in new boss Thomas Tuchel's first two squads, though the German has vowed to give everyone a chance over the long term.
Southampton and Chelsea have until 11pm to complete a deal.
