Report: Crystal Palace want Tony Popovic as new boss

A report claims that Crystal Palace want to appoint Western Sydney Wanderers and former defender boss Tony Popovic as their new manager.

Crystal Palace reportedly want to appoint Western Sydney Wanderers head coach Tony Popovic as their new full-time manager.

The Premier League club are currently without a boss after Neil Warnock was relieved of his duties on Saturday morning.

Palace chairman Steve Parish is the individual tasked with appointing a replacement and Popovic is the leading candidate, according to The Mirror.

The Australian represented Palace as a player from 2001 to 2006, while he was also a coach at Selhurst Park from February 2011 to May 2012.

Popovic has since taken charge of Australian side Western Sydney Wanderers, where his impressive work has been noted by the Palace hierarchy.

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood is also believed to be in the frame.
