Kiko Casilla close to new Espanyol deal

Espanyol goalkeeper Kiko Casilla is close to signing a new long-term deal with the club.

Espanyol president Joan Collet has revealed that goalkeeper Kiko Casilla is close to signing a new long-term contract with the Spanish outfit.

The 27-year-old, who is widely regarded as one of the best shot-stoppers in La Liga, has previously been linked with Barcelona and Real Madrid.

However, Collet has claimed that talks are nearing a conclusion, and that "a deal could be done within 10 days".

"It is the most advanced renewal talks we have and a deal could be done within 10 days," Collet told Marca.

"We must look over all contracts to make sure they're right before signing."

Casilla came through the youth system at Real Madrid before moving to his current club in 2007.
