Espanyol president Joan Collet says that the club's main objective next season is to remain in La Liga.

Espanyol president Joan Collet has insisted that the club's main objective next season is to remain in Spain's top division.

However, Collet has also admitted that he expects the club to push on after finishing 13th in La Liga last season.

"The first objective for us is to survive. But that is not our only objective," he told reporters at a press conference.

"I am very ambitious and so are the fans. I like to demand a lot from my team, and that is the way it should be as this club grows."

Espanyol struggled in the early part of last season before Javier Aguirre led them to safety.
