Claudio Ranieri hints at Kasper Schmeichel, Danny Drinkwater returns

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri hints that Kasper Schmeichel and Danny Drinkwater could return for the Premier League trip to face Stoke City.

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has hinted that both Kasper Schmeichel and Danny Drinkwater could return for Saturday's Premier League clash with Stoke City.

Schmeichel, who was an ever-present during Leicester's title-winning campaign last season, has been limited to just eight league starts due to injury this season, with the latest setback seeing him ruled out since November 3 with a broken hand.

Drinkwater, meanwhile, has missed the last two games with a knee injury and remains a doubt for this weekend's trip to the bet365 Stadium.

"Kasper Schmeichel trained very well today so I'll check tomorrow. The goalkeeper isn't so different because he has to understand the line of the ball and reactions," Ranieri told reporters.

"Kasper is training very well and feels good. Today he made a little game between us. I want to see the reaction tomorrow but the hand is okay. I'll also check Drinkwater tomorrow.

"He has a little problem with his knee from a kick in Porto. Without him we lose something but [Andy] King and [Daniel] Amartey are working so hard to do good things. Also [Nampalys] Mendy is getting better training after training and then I have to choose the best solution."

Leicester have won only one of their last seven Premier League games and sit just four points clear of the relegation zone.
