Adam Lallana has insisted that the experience of Steven Gerrard among the Liverpool ranks is "invaluable" to the club's Champions League hopes this season.
The Reds travel to face Basel at St Jakob-Park this evening, the scene of the Premier League outfit's group-stage exit in 2002.
Gerrard is the only remaining Liverpool member from that squad, previously describing it as one of his lowest moments at the club, yet Lallana has not discussed the match with his teammate.
"I've not had that conversation with him," BT Sport quotes the summer signing from Southampton as saying. "It is great we have a role model like Stevie within the group; he's been there and done it before, lifted the trophy so his experience is invaluable for us."
Liverpool beat Ludogorets Razgrad 2-1 in their opening Group B clash, while Basel suffered a 5-1 defeat against Real Madrid.
