Manchester City 'enter Emre Can race'

Premier League leaders reportedly enter the race to sign Liverpool midfielder Emre Can on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Manchester City have reportedly entered the race to sign Emre Can from Liverpool at the end of the season.

Can looks increasingly likely to leave Anfield when his contract expires this summer, despite establishing himself as an important member of Jurgen Klopp's first team during the current campaign.

Italian champions Juventus hold a long-standing interest in the 24-year-old and are still considered frontrunners to sign him on a free transfer at the end of the season.

However, Tuttosport claims that Juve will face stiff competition from a number of other top European clubs, including runaway Premier League leaders City.

European champions Real Madrid and German giants Bayern Munich are also thought to be interested in Can, while Liverpool remain eager to keep hold of the midfielder.

Can has made 30 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions this season, scoring three goals and creating three more.
