Ex-Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera is confident that Paul Pogba can win the Ballon d'Or if United can challenge for major honours.

Paris Saint-Germain's Ander Herrera believes that former teammate Paul Pogba can win the Ballon d'Or in the future.

Pogba's past year at Old Trafford has been plagued by injuries and speculation over his future, but the World-Cup winning Frenchman has since become a key player in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's midfield at Manchester United.

Ahead of United's Champions League showdown with PSG this week, Herrera - who made 189 appearances for the Red Devils between 2014 and 2019 - has backed Pogba to one day be crowned the world's best player and believes that United are heading in the right direction with Solskjaer at the helm.

"There is no other like him - one on one, box to box," the Spaniard said in quotes attributed to BBC Sport. "He has everything to win the Ballon d'Or if his club fights for major trophies.

"There is a lot of talent, more consistent. Also with Bruno Fernandes, they have definitely improved. United are progressing. They have signed the right players, I don't think they are going backwards."

United have made the trip to the French capital without Harry Maguire, Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani - the latter of whom is still waiting to make his debut for the Red Devils since his deadline-day arrival.
