Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes that a number of Blackburn Rovers supporters who protested against boss Steve Kean probably feel regretful.

The Blackburn coach was the subject of a number of marches and stadium sit-ins from the club's supporters due to the poor form of the Lancashire club.

It appears that the campaign against the Scottish boss has since quietened following the side's recent results, which have lifted the club three points clear of the relegation zone.

"I am sure a lot of them are saying to themselves 'I wish I hadn't done that'," said Ferguson. "Things can change. You have to dig in and not let it get to you.

"Now no-one is talking about fans having protest marches. He has held his dignity very well and deserves 100% praise from everyone, including his own supporters. He has shown his mettle in times when it was difficult for him."

Meanwhile, Ferguson has confirmed that Nani will be ruled out of the Red Devils' match against Blackburn on Monday as the winger continues to nurse an ankle injury.
